Meet the Bride: Marquita Born and raised right here in D.C., I am a proud product of this city and the youngest of nine siblings. My heart is full as I prepare for this day, not just as a bride, but as a mother to my three biological children and six wonderful bonus sons. Education is my calling; I am an alumna of Ballou Senior High and Trinity Washington University, and I’ve spent the last 18 years dedicated to teaching. I am so incredibly happy to have you join us as we officially bring our families together!

Meet the Groom: Wayne Born and raised right here in Washington, D.C., I’ve always known the importance of family. As the oldest of twelve siblings, I learned early on what it means to lead and provide. My pride and joy are my seven biological children and my two bonus kids, and I’m the lucky "Papa" to two amazing grandchildren. When I’m not spending time with the family or working my ninth year at Virginia Hospital Center, you can find me rooting for my team—I’m a die-hard Commanders fan through and through. I’m so grateful to have you all there as I marry Marquita and officially bring our worlds together

Meet the Maid of Honor/Bridesmaid: Karla Hello! I’m Karla, Marquita’s cousin and, truly, her very first best friend. We grew up side-by-side, sharing everything from lazy summers spanning from 29th Mississippi AVE to Burnside, to endless sleepovers that stretched late into the night. It has been the joy of my life to watch us grow from little girls into the women we are today. Standing by her side as she marries the love of her life is a moment I’ve dreamed of for years.

Meet the Maid of Honor/Bridesmaid: Latrice “Tricey” Hi everyone! I’m Latrice, but most people call me "Tricey." Marquita and I first met back in 10th grade, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. Whether it’s serving as the proud godmother to her daughters, acting as her daily diary for all of life’s moments, or indulging in our favorite hobbies—like perfume shopping and long days at the mall—I’m always by her side. I’ve cherished our years of friendship, and I am so honored to be here to celebrate her as she starts this new chapter with Wayne.

We met during our senior year of high school and have been inseparable ever since. From singing our hearts out and going on marathon shopping trips to sharing countless meals, we’ve done it all together. I am so excited to stand by my sister-from-another-mister as she says "I do!"
