If you plan to visit on Saturday, it would be best to visit in the morning before noon as that is when the weddings begin and you may not be allowed to enter certain areas. Check the website prior to your visit; it will list their wedding schedule. I would strongly recommend scheduling a docent guided tour to learn all of the fun facts!
It’s about a 30 minute drive to the famous Cold Spring Tavern. It began operating as a stagecoach stop in 1868. Now, it’s a biker stop, restaurant and bar in the woods. Parking is along the side of the road. The grounds have several original structures with interesting histories. I come for the live music and OUTDOOR BAR-B-Q – Tri-tip sandwiches!! They are available on Saturday and Sunday between 11:30 – 5:00 for $14.00. You can grab a sandwich and your favorite beverage from the Log Cabin Bar and sit on any of the logs or benches and enjoy.
Santa Barbara Wine Country is unique in that there is such a diverse range of wines, styles and experiences all in one region. With 6 distinct appellations and more than 50 wine varieties, wine tasting options are almost endless. Use the web link to check out the wine routes suggested by Santa Barbara Vintners. They include maps, wineries to stop at, and will keep you within range of what’s doable in a day. They currently feature 9 different wine trails in the region. My favorite wines in Santa Barbara are Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
