Austin and I met when we were both students at Hampton High School. I was a junior and he was a senior. We both spent a lot of our time in the same building, where his agriculture classes and my health science classes were held beside of each other. Austin and I began talking as friends, but it very quickly evolved into something more and we have been inseparable ever since!
Austin and I went to Myrtle Beach with his family in the summer of 2018. Austin and I were metal detecting on the beach one night when I had gotten a high-pitched beep. After several minutes of digging, I had found a metal box full of sand. I was extremely confused until I had read the lid, which had "turn around" written inside. Austin's family was gathered around us and his dad began playing our song as I turned around. Austin poured his heart out to me, got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. By this point I was sobbing, but obviously said yes through the happy tears. The picture below shows just how happy I was to say "yes!" You may be wondering why Austin and I have been engaged for such a long time. Austin proposed to me as I was beginning my first semester of college. He is so selfless and understanding that he supported my decision to finish nursing school before getting married. I am forever grateful for his patience and understanding, and I am so ecstatic that we are FINALLY getting married!
