Welcome to our Special Day

Josh and I first met when I was a freshman and he was a sophomore at North Carolina A&T State University. He had just crossed Phi Beta Sigma in the spring of 2013 and I just finished a practice with Couture Productions DANCE sector. I was getting something to eat in at the Aggie Sit-In and there was about to walk back to a friends dorm room when he came out of nowhere and told me he would escort me, since it was dark. Every now and then we would say hi to each other over the next few school years and have a brief conversation. Fast-forward to GHOE of 2018 and I was enjoying time to myself when Josh had messaged me on Facebook out of know where and asked if I would like to go to brunch that Friday morning. I hesitated at first and I talked to one of my best friends, Adrene to see if he was a good guy. I finally said yes, and we went to brunch. He invited me out that night to go to a party, which I enjoyed. Here we are five years later, getting prepared to say I do and after all this time with multiple vacations and memories together, we wouldn’t want it to be any other way.

The first thought of proposal came to mind in 2019 when Sierra and I went on our first trip together to New York. Some time later, her dad and I joined for dinner at BWW and that’s when I asked for Sierra’s hand in marriage. I was nervous but excited about asking. I was happy to hear him say yes, but I would have to ask his wife as well, which I was happy to. In July of 2022, I bought the ring that Sierra and I had looked at and that she loved. Sierra and I had a trip to Los Angeles coming up in August and I found that before the trip, I had time to speak with her mom and ask the same question. I was happy that she said yes as well and she saw the ring. From there, I just had to decide when I was going to ask the question. It was always hard to surprise Sierra since she had the ability to guess everything I tried to plan. I found the perfect day, September 3rd, since I knew I would be with her and majority of our friends would be in Charlotte. So I covertly messaged her best friends and dance sisters as well as my best friends to join us at Haymaker for brunch to surprise her and be there for the proposal. I will never forget her being surprised at everyone there and her reaction to me proposing. I then received the answer that has us to this day, yes!
