David moved to Chicago in the summer of 2018 and soon after started a dating profile on the ever popular Jewish dating app, JSwipe. After using the app for a few days, Julie's profile popped up and David swiped right. Mazel Tov - it was a match!! With great excitement David messaged Julie to introduce himself and then waited. One, two, three days passed by without a response. Then one Saturday afternoon David received an alert that Julie had responded. One, two, three days passed and then David decided to respond. Both hit it off immediately and were texting each other constantly for a week before deciding to meet for drinks and dinner. First they went to an arcade bar to play some games and David soon realized Julie's extreme competitiveness when she beat him at every arcade game they played. The next stop was tacos and the conversation flowed effortlessly. Not wanting the night to end, both decided to take a long walk throughout the city streets of Chicago until eventually David walked Julie home. Little did they know that this was going to be their last first date. #itwassmeanttobe
Julie and David's journey continued after their first date, dating for 3 years and sharing amazing life journeys along the way: moving in together, purchasing a condo and adopting their furbaby, Chad, to name a few. During their courtship Julie was VERY patient with David when it came to asking for her hand in marriage and David knew he needed to get his act together. While planning the proposal David decided to purchase large balloons to spell out "Marry Me?", but little did he know that there would be a nationwide helium and balloon shortage. After searching for two weeks in a 50-mile radius of Chicago and running around to multiple stores, David was able to get all the needed materials needed and the balloons blown up. On a Saturday morning David and Julie went out to brunch and while away David's sister and her husband, Nicole and Dave, brought over all the 30+ balloons to set everything up in the living room. David and Julie returned home and Julie could tell something was off as David was acting, in her words, "very weird". Julie began to cry immediately as she opened the front door and David led her into the living room. He got down on one knee and Julie said "yes". Both shared a long embrace, tears, and kisses and were now officially engaged.
