What We Call Love

For us, love is a divine gift from God, a sacred bond that begins and ends with Him. As 1 John 4:8 reminds us, “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” Our relationship is built on this truth, with the Holy Spirit guiding us through every joy and challenge. Love, for us, is not just a feeling but a choice, a commitment, and a covenant. As 1 Corinthians 13:13 says, “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” Although our relationship has been short, we’ve already walked through many seasons together—laughter, tears, challenges, and triumphs. Through it all, God’s presence has been constant. Romans 8:28 assures us that “in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose,” and this promise has sustained us. We’ve learned to love and respect each other, especially in moments of disagreement, choosing patience and humility, as Ephesians 4:2-3 teaches: “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” For us, love is waking up each day and choosing to love, even when it’s hard. It’s not about perfection but about commitment, sacrifice, and putting God’s will above our own, as Colossians 3:14 encourages: “And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” Our love reflects the unwavering, sacrificial love God has shown us, and it’s this foundation that strengthens us through every trial. 1 John 4:19 says, “We love because he first loved us.” This is our definition of love: a divine gift, a covenant, and a commitment to reflect God's love in all we do, walking hand in hand with the Holy Spirit guiding us.
