Eric and I met during youth group at Glenside Bible Church in the Fall of 2012. We became friends the following winter and would talk on a weekly basis. We both volunteered for Pioneer Clubs at church and would meet outside to hangout for a few minutes before we would head home. Finally, in 2014, Eric asked me on our first date to the movies. Like all relationships, we had our good times and bad times but we always found ourselves wanting to be together. Over 8 years later and here we are!
In February I sent Eric a YouTube video of a firefighter who proposed to his girlfriend during a parade. I mentioned to him how cool of an idea this would be but knew he would never do something like that because of the attention it would bring. Leading up to our engagement, I had been thinking Eric would propose while we were in Ocean City for vacation. As you all know Eric actually pulled off the biggest surprise. On Fourth of July he did the parades in the morning as usual...But things were off that afternoon as I walked in to Eric's house. Everyone was silent and watching what they were saying around me, I had a strange feeling but I ignored it. It got more weird when I saw Bridget and the kids walk in, because she is usually down the shore but said she came home for an appointment. We all ate lunch and started to get ready to walk down to the fire house to watch the parade! We got into our spots then parade began! As usual, I was waiting for Weldon to come down the street, knowing me I had to get the best picture and video of the trucks and Eric. When I saw Eric, he waved for me to come over to him. He said how much do you love me? I said “a lot”.... then he got on one knee down to ask me to marry him. Of course I said YES! To celebrate all of fire trucks blasted the sirens and horns! It was truly the best day ever!
