We're Getting Married!

Ryan and Mya can thank their relationship to the wrestling and soccer teams at Coe College. There were multiple conversations on the bus rides with the teams about why they were a "perfect" match. In the morning weightlifting sessions with both teams, friends continued whispering in Ryan and Mya's ears to make a move. Finally Ryan "slid up" on Mya's Snapchat story and asked about plans for the night. At the Coe softball house party, they were literally dragged to a table to finally meet. Since that night, they have been inseparable and the rest was history.

Ryan and Mya's engagement party was nothing short of perfect. Somehow, Ryan was able to have Mya plan the entire night without her catching onto the proposal. She asked some of their good friends to go out for a nice dinner then decided to hang out at her parent's house for the UFC fights that night, and beyond all that was able to coordinate outfits. Mya was clueless, to say the least, she said no to getting her nails done, did not question why her aunt may be in town, and even made jokes at dinner about hoping for an engagement soon! Ryan thought for sure he had blown his cover a few different times and also was expecting Mya to sleep all day after working but of course, she was on-call all night and was ready to start the day at 9 am. Thankfully, Mya's Aunt stepped in and convinced her to go shopping for a brand-new outfit for dinner that night. Mya's favorite times of the night were first driving up to the house and seeing a line of cars, she looked at Ryan and said, "Woah my dad must be having a rager for the fights", Ryan responded with, "You really have no clue" while pulling into the cabin. Mya instantly had tears running down her face. Then after the amazing proposal, Ryan walked Mya over to the house where they had all of their family and friends there to celebrate with them. It was truly a spectacular night.

Ryan and Mya are so excited to complete this next chapter in their life and all the other ones to come. After completing college at Coe, going through Covid, moving in together, and getting an apartment in Iowa City, they were so grateful to have each other through every step. They are thankful for every person they met on the way and the endless support systems they each have. Now it's time to celebrate!
