On January 17, 2020, at the beginning of an annual friend’s ski trip to Sun Valley, Idaho, we decided to go to the local courthouse and sign on the dotted line. With a few friends cheering us on, we said “We Do!”. The day was filled with special surprises, and perfect moments thanks to our incredibly thoughtful friends. Jen’s outfit was made complete with a stunning white fur coat thanks to our friend’s grandmother, and we all piled into a 16 passenger van to head to the courthouse, as if we were on a summer camp adventure. The warm and lighthearted Judge immediately set us at ease and delivered a meaningful ceremony complete with us exchanging our rings and saying our “I Do’s.” Upon exiting the courthouse, a “Just Married” sign had appeared on the back of our van, and we headed to The Pioneer Saloon in Ketchum for a hearty steak and potatoes dinner. The evening’s celebration concluded with champagne, which had been chilling in the snow, and delicious cake with a perfect cake topper - a couple on a chair lift. To our friends who made this impromptu celebration so very magical and memorable, thank you. We will forever be grateful to have this moment and memory.
With the understanding we wouldn’t all be able to come together safely to celebrate for some time, in October, we put on our party clothes and celebrated our marriage, the two of us, in Vermont. The venue was a beautiful, newly renovated estate called the Inn at Burklyn atop a hill in East Burke, VT. We had a warm, sunny fall day filled with special moments. Jen started the day with hair and make-up, and Greg enjoyed a Headytopper, one of our favorite (Vermont) IPAs, while waiting for our first look. Jen had something old from her grandmother Celia, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. We walked the grounds taking photos, had a champagne toast in beautiful champagne flutes gifted to us when we were engaged, cut a delicious blueberry, lemon wedding cake, and enjoyed a private dinner for two on the porch with exquisite flowers from a local florist with Prince Edward Island roots.
Our first international adventure together took us to Chamonix for a ski vacation in December 2017. We had both been before on separate trips and loved it. Speaking french (albeit poorly), skiing, and eating delicious food surrounded by the Alps is spectacular. After a successful first trip, we were determined to go back annually. Last February, we ventured back for our second trip and a day into our vacation, Greg popped the question! After a few tears and photos, we proceeded to celebrate at our favorite après-ski spot, enjoyed some wine and cheese, and headed out for an evening of authentic savoyard cuisine!
Thank goodness for birthday celebrations! In March 2017, Jen and one of her closest friends, Miguel, hosted a joint birthday party. A large group of friends assembled for a raucous evening of festivities starting with sushi and ending with karaoke and cake. Another good friend, Mike, happened to bring along a guest and friend, Greg. Needless to say the rest is history…
