Highschool. Normal teenage boy. Drivers ed. Not the fancy one in Sugar Land but in Chinatown, where everyone forgets how to drive. It was the first day of class, and I sat there with my friend, and I said, "The next chick that is cute, I am gonna go for her." Almost right on time, Annie comes in, beautiful as ever. Immediate jaw drops as I sat up and just… stared. Of course, one must play the "cool guy." So for most of the course, I tried to act like I wasn't interested. But.. I made it a point to always be sitting next to her or directly across. As class started to end, we exchanged numbers on the premise of helping each other study, and from then on, she has been stuck with me ever since! P.S. Ask her about who Simon is! - Warren I wasn’t expecting to date anyone at drivers ed. I went with a friend who then introduced me to her schoolmates that were there. Yes, there were two cute guys that attended the program and one of them made the first move on me. SIMON!! It wasn’t until Simon started to visibly flirt with me that Warren made his move. Warren nonchalantly held my left hand under the table while we were watching a video in class. I didn’t make the relationship official until he formally asked me out over the phone. I had to tell my friend to text him about formally asking me out. From then on, it was history. - Annie
The world was becoming more and more chaotic, with COVID beginning its rampage across the world. Go back slightly before the end of 2019. Annie and I had been planning our trip to Japan. All the sights and attractions we had planned to explore together with her as my forever travel buddy. That was the place. The place where I would propose. The world was also giving me a sign.. because out of the 365 days in a year, Annie's mother told me that XX was the ONLY perfect day to propose, which so happened that we would be in Japan. I kept thinking, what luck to be able to give Annie such a memorable proposal. Ring bought, everything planned, and COVID happened. In January of 2020, our plans came to a halt as Studio Ghibli closed its museum in Japan. We canceled our trip, and I was left grasping for ideas. One day, a coworker mentioned that there is this beautiful place close to Austin with a view that is perfect for a proposal called Enchanted Rock. I did some more research, and we got a new plan. Day of the hike, here we go, we got the ring, we got sun, we are a go.. and we stop. Halfway to the top, where the scenery is, Annie finally tells me she is afraid of heights! We pause.. and no amount of convincing will get her to go any higher. I had to get Cullen (sister's boyfriend) to hike back down from setting up the camera to give me back the ring. I looked for the nicest rock I could find and asked Annie to make it there, which was about 10 steps away. She refused and at which point I popped the question with my small impromptu speech as small children without shoes were walking up and down the hike. Luckily the ring wasn't dropped at any point, and she said YES! With the proposal done and the ring to its rightful place, Annie miraculously found the courage to hike up and back down Enchanted Rock. Needless to say, I was experiencing a mix of emotions.. as I wondered why she couldn't hike up before! - Warren I said YES! Shiny Rock = Courage (: - Annie
