This farmers market is one of the best in the city with over 100 vendors featuring local foods, produce, and handmade goods. It is a great place to start your Saturday exploration of the area while grabbing a delicious breakfast. It is open Saturday 8-1.
Minneapolis at one time was huge in the flour mill industry. This museum is set in what was once the largest flour mill in the world. It may sound like a mundane museum but it is fascinating and in a beautiful area. $15 for adults $8 for kids
Cool park just down from the Mill City Museum and on the banks of the Mississippi. It is worth checking out if you are in the area.
While the Stone Arch Bridge is closed for construction until 2025, you can still admire it and catch views from various places already mentioned.
While the Guthrie Theater offers wonderful performances, it is also a unique architectural gem. The theater is a public space and open during the day. You can take the escalator up and head to the Endless Bridge which extends 178 feet from the main building and offers an outdoor space for spectacular views. Next locate the elevators and head to the ninth floor. There you will find the Pohlad Lobby that features an amber box that juts out 15 feet from the building offering 360 degree views.
Just up from Mill City Museum and the Guthrie Theatre, this park offers an excellent city view from the top of the sculptural observation mound.
Completed in 2022, this sculpture has quickly become a highlight of any Lake of the Isles walk. Come back in June for the annual sharpening ceremony.
A STEM focused museum The Spark Exhibit is designed to inspire participants to think about where innovative ideas begin.
This area of Minneapolis features 15 miles of walking trails along five different lakes (map: https://s3.amazonaws.com/meet-minneapolis/craft/cms/chain-of-lakes-hedberg2019.pdf?mtime=20190716114446 ). The wedding breakfast on Sunday is on Lake of the Isles so it would be a great time to explore if you have time. The walk around Bde Maka Ska is 5k and the walk around Lake of the Isles is just over two and a half miles. If you decide to explore the area by boat, several of the lakes are connected and you can rent various non motorized crafts.
The lake park offers a 2.6 mile walking path around the lake and a super nice play area for kids.
Located within Minnehaha Regional Park, the 53 foot tall falls are a short walk to the top or bottom. There is a longer two mile trail that continues to the Mississippi River Valley. The large park also features a number of gardens and sculptures.
Walker is a modern and contemporary art museum. For a little something different, try mini golf on the roof.
Right across the street from the art center, this is the largest outdoor sculpture park in the world which features over 40 pieces. It is also where you will find the iconic Spoonbrige and Cherry. Have you really been to Minneapolis without at least snapping one photo in front of the cherry?
One of the largest parks in the city, Loring is really close to both art options. It offers peace among the bustling city. There is a .7 mile walking trail that offers views of the lake and downtown.
This city zoo contains a wide variety of wildlife including Crowned Cranes and Polar Bears. The conservatory contains various gardens including a tropical rainforest. Both are free. The much larger Minneapolis Zoo is also impressive but outside the cities and is not free.
This park is located along the Mississippi River bluffs. Trails offer access to the falls and views of the river. Trails are often closed after a hard rain.
This historic site contains a number of hiking trails. Among the most popular is the two and a half mile trail around Snelling Lake. This park is not a good place to visit after a hard rain.
This museum boasts over eight acres of exhibits and activities. It covers all areas of science. The museum is located on the banks of the Mississippi. Admission is pricey so count on spending time there to get your money’s worth ($25 for kids;$35 for adults).

A great place to explore spices and flavors. The Hennepin location is close to the Magers and Quinn Booksellers and the Sunday breakfast.

Owned by famous Native American author Louise Erdrich, this shop has a great selection of books and Native crafts.
