Flight
Most major airlines should have a direct flight into San Francisco International. (We always opt for this route and rent a car. From baggage claim, the AirTrain takes you directly to the Rental Car Center.) Keep in mind, traffic can get congested traveling through the Bay Area. Oakland International/Sacramento International are smaller airports with possible flight options.
