Walter is at a bit of a disadvantage, because I get to tell our story the way I remember :) As most of you know, I’m a barber, and I had one rule: never date a client. Enter Walter, my client of a couple of years. One day, he came in for a haircut, and let’s just say, I was exhausted. I’d just worked three 14-hour days with barely any sleep, trying to keep the shop running while it was under construction. My brain? Completely frazzled. But something about that haircut... I don’t know if it was the tiredness or just the way his smile caught my attention, but I found myself thinking, “Maybe I can break my own rule this one time.” So, I texted him saying a pair of sunglasses had been left behind, asking if they were his (even though I knew full well they weren’t). He replied, saying he was the one who handed them to me. Wait, what? He handed them to me? How could I not remember that? But, hey, exhaustion will do that to you. We kept texting, and then he asked if I knew any good places near my new apartment to hang out. Completely oblivious to the fact that he was asking me to hang out, I thought he was just looking for recommendations. (Note to self: He was way smoother than I was.) Long story short, we walked on the beach until 5 a.m., and since that night, we’ve been inseparable. I quickly realized I had found someone who would protect my heart, love me endlessly, and make life so much more fun. And now, here we are—thanks to a pair of sunglasses and a little bit of fate—planning our wedding.
