Our favorite movie theater! The Terrace is the local art house cinema on Maybank Highway heading out towards Johns Island. They play the biggest releases and the independent festival hits you probably haven't heard of. Their concession stand is full of local snacks, beer, and wine.
Downtown Charleston is super walkable and the most dense concentration of shops are on King Street. If you start at Marion Square Park and walk South you'll find dozens of local boutiques, bookstores, and restaurants mixed in with larger retailers including an Apple store. A couple blocks down, King St. intersects with Market St. and you can decide to either split off and explore the historic Charleston City Market or stay on King Street until you get to the local art galleries.
At the very end of King Street is White Point Gardens (also called The Battery). This park is on the Charleston Waterfront and old battle canons line the walkable sea wall. From here you can walk to almost any other spot in downtown Charleston, the closest being Rainbow Row, the Old Exchange Building and Provost Dungeon, and the Pineapple fountain.
