On December 30, Cassie decided to give online dating another go. She had tried it years previously without much luck but something convinced her to give it one more try. So she logged onto Match.com and created her profile. On January 6, Caleb decided that he was done with the online dating world. After quite awhile, without much luck, he was tired of it. So he logged onto Match to delete his account. It wouldn’t hurt though, he thought, to give one last look through his matches. A few clicks later, he came across the profile of an interesting woman. She especially intrigued him because of her openness about the importance of the Lord in her life. “Heck,” he said to himself, “might as well give it one more try.” He typed out a quick message. On the other side of town, a notification popped up on Cassie’s phone. However, she was asleep. Because anyone who knows Caleb knows he’s a night owl and Cassie is not. However, the next morning she got that message. And so began their great love story.
1) Bowling 2) Rob a bank 3) Museum and dinner “Robbing a bank would take a lot of planning. Better make it bowling instead.” Even from the beginning Caleb could make Cassie crack up. The exchange that took place when planning their first date was no different. They went bowling, something neither of them are admittedly that good at. Caleb was so nervous he showed up 30 minutes early to the date. Cassie made back up plans with friends so she would have an excuse to leave if the date tanked. Neither needed to worry. Within 30 minutes, they were talking like old friends. Through 2 rounds of bowling, and then moving to the attached restaurant for pizza. Throughout the date, they never ran out of things to say to each other. When, inevitably, Caleb walked Cassie to her car (because she had those back up plans) and asked if he could hug her good-bye, they were both hooked.
In February, Caleb bought a house. Their first home. On close day, they stood in the house musing about all the wonderful memories they would have there. Caleb looked Cassie in the eye and said “I want out our first memory to be a good one”. Then he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.
