PIVOT. That was the word of 2020. While we had hoped to celebrate with each and every one of you this time last year, 2020 had other plans. In order to keep our amazingly awesome date of Halloween, we got married in a small, local ceremony. We are THRILLED that this year we are able to celebrate with everyone we love. We can't wait to see you in October!
Our love story is one of the classics, sort of. Girl meets boy at her favorite downtown bar. Girl dates boy for a time. But girl, having only been 24 at the time, decides boy is just too nice, cuts it off, and she eventually moves out of state. (Move is unrelated to boy). But how did we end up here, you ask? Fast-forward 10 years. Same Girl. Same Boy. New downtown bar. Their eyes meet across the crowd. Girl overhears boy asking his friend, Cameron (everyone knows Cameron) who the blonde was. Diana, never one to be shy, especially after a few espresso martinis, walks up to him, reminds him ever so kindly that they used to make out, and the rest, as they say, is history.
I used to live in New York City and I was so excited to be able to introduce Justin to a little piece of my heart. It was a dream to be able to share NYC, my besties who live there, and the magic of the Christmas Holiday with Justin that December. He had only asked to do one thing on our visit - ice skate at Central Park. The day had finally arrived (after a VERY long night out with the above mentioned besties). We brunched, we laughed, we walked to Central Park and.....the ice skating line was longer than I had ever seen it! We almost ditched the plan to walk around Central Park instead. Luckily, it started moving and we were in. Justin and I were skating while Marah, Amanda, Julianne and Craig were on the sidelines watching like proud parents. We took several laps, I did some twirls, and we almost got run over by the masses. After another pass, Justin stopped me in the middle of the rink. To this day, I have zero memory of what he actually said, I just know I was crying. He dropped to one knee, skates and all, and proposed! The entire rink burst out in applause! It was the most special moment, just the two of us amongst a sea of people. I couldn't have picked a better place to start the rest of our lives. Justin knocked it out of the park!
