Welcome to our wedding!

After first meeting through a mutual friend at uni, neither of us expected that three years later we would reconnect. By this point Laura was living in Middlemount, 10 hours away from the Sunshine Coast. After coming back to visit family on the school holidays, Laura posted a picture of the Maroochy River on Facebook. Dan saw this picture and messaged Laura to catch up. The connection when we saw each other again after so long was almost instantaneous. Everything felt so natural and we both found the other so easy to talk to. Dan even spent several hours on the phone while Laura made the long drive back out to Middlemount, only a day or two later. While those nine months of long distance dating were difficult, we're both so thankful we stuck it out until we could finally be together properly. Who knew a random picture on Facebook would lead us to our happily ever after?

We had been having the most amazing holiday in Cairns. Even though we had been together nearly three years, we hadn't gone away on holidays for more than a long weekend. After spending the morning at Cairns Aquarium we made the hour and a half drive out to Paronella Park, a castle that had been built in the middle of the rainforest in the 20s & 30s. When we arrived in the midst of a drizzly rain, we were the only ones there and received a private tour of the grounds. Much to Dan's displeasure (though Laura was completely oblivious) the tour guide kept referring to us as 'young lovers' and making hints about how romantic the spot was. After the tour, we walked round the grounds to one of the waterfalls where Dan blindsided Laura as he got down on one knee.
