In 2014, Michelle had just started working as a karaoke host at the Golden China Restaurant. Justin was a frequent customer and singer in her show, and they immediately became close friends. Soon, they were going to karaoke together almost every night. When they weren't out singing, Justin and Michelle would go shopping, see movies, and even went on a few trips to Las Vegas. .

In 2015, Michelle was offered a job promotion which required her to move to Torrance. She accepted the promotion, but her excitement was bittersweet because she loved living in Ventura County. That night, she was hosting karaoke, and she asked Justin to stay after the show so they could talk. After working through her concerns, Michelle jokingly expressed to Justin how much she wished he would move with her. He replied "why not?" and so after some arduous apartment hunting, Justin and Michelle became roommates.

After nearly a year of living together, the connection between Justin and Michelle was obvious to just about everyone else in their lives. After a night of patriotic partying (and with the help of some liquid courage), Michelle made the first move on Justin on the fourth of July. The rest is history!

In May 2019, Justin and Michelle went on a breathtaking trip to Vancouver. On this trip, Justin decided that he wanted to ask Michelle to be his wife. The weekend they returned, Justin took Michelle to her favorite Italian restaurant, followed by an evening stroll in the park. Just as the sun was setting, Justin asked to stop at a bench. To Michelle's surprise and delight, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Not one to contain herself, Michelle jumped up, squeaked "Yes!!!" and nearly suffocated Justin with a hug.
