Coopers Rock State Forest
Coopers Rock is such a special place to us! This is where we went on our first date, where we celebrated our 1 year of dating anniversary and then where we got engaged :) Coopers Rock is beautiful - with the main overlook that is easily accessible and a quick walk to see, Raven's Rock which is a bit more challenging of a hike but worth the view, and many other trails to hike! Plus they have a playground for kids, disc golf course, rock climbing, and more. It's a must-visit spot if you ask us!
Morris Park
This is one of our favorite places in Fairmont :) We go here A LOT for picnic + disc golf dates! Morris park has 2 awesome disc golf courses - Seth Burton & Orange Crush, but neither of which top The Richard's Property Course ;) Morris park is a great place to take a walk, play on the playground, play disc golf, ride bikes, or just be outside.
The Richard's Property Backyard Disc Golf Course
Of all the disc golf courses we have played, this one is our favorite! Spread out across Jacob's family's property, this is a full 18-hole course that is so much fun! And, if you're lucky, you may be greeted by some cute pups, a couple of excited little girls, or some deer! We highly recommend this spot. Just text Jacob at the number provided for the address.
Valley Falls State Park
Valley Falls is right near Fairmont, WV where Jacob grew up! It's a beautiful park with water falls and great trails to hike. It's very conveniently located close to the wedding venue so this would be a great spot to visit right before or after the wedding :)
Ohiopyle State Park
Ohiopyle State Park is another one of our favorite places. It is about 1.5 hours northeast of Fairmont, WV but it has a lot of FUN to offer. From a natural (rock) waterslide, to bike trails and hiking trails, to fun coffee shops and restaurants - there are so many fun things to do in a condensed area. If visiting, we recommend hiking the Ferncliff trail and grabbing a drink or snack from Ohiopyle Coffee Company. Stopping by the overlook to see the falls is a MUST and very easily accessible :) We highly recommend this spot if you have a whole day or just a couple of hours to spend.
Tygart Valley Cinemas
The BEST movie theater in the area, if you ask us! It's old... but the price is right and the popcorn is even right-er...? :) We've had quite a few dates here and double dates with Jacob's parents! We all recommend the Monster Deal for just $6.99!
The Joe
One of the best coffee shops in Fairmont! We had our first Fairmont date here - we grabbed lunch and coffee and then went to Morris Park to play disc golf. It was such a fun day!
Fresh Mint Indian Grill
Go here for the BEST Indian cuisine around. We frequent this restaurant at least once a month. We recommend anything from their menu but some of our staples include the Butter Paneer, Mango Lassi, and anything off the Vegetarian menu - Jacob is working his way down the whole list, one by one!
Ta-Khrai Thai Cafe
This is our number 1 pick for Thai cuisine! We HIGHLY recommend the yellow almond curry with tofu, but beware, even the mild has a bit of spicy kick to it! If you like spicy food, you'll especially love their food, but even Cassidy can handle the almond curry :)
Roots Natural Kitchen
This restaurant is new to Morgantown but it very quickly became our new favorite! If you're looking for food that is filling, healthy, and unique then this is your spot! We recommend the Balboa Bowl with Red Chili Miso Tofu. If you're gluten free like Cassidy, then substitute the pita chips with chickpeas. It's delicious! Bonus - kids under 12 eat FREE when you buy an adult bowl :)
