We met at a baby shower - for bridesmaid Caroline's daughter! It was love at first sight... Or at least "hey, they're cute" at first sight. Dan then proceeded to hit Emma in the head with a kickball several times. We've been together ever since! We've made it through living in different states, a cockroach infested first apartment, multiple career changes and a pandemic... Each day brings more love and laughter than we'd ever hoped to find. We're so lucky and so in love.

As Dan will tell it, Emma ruined every plan he had and shot him down at every turn. As Emma will tell it, it was the best day ever and a perfect proposal! Dan wanted to propose where he first asked Emma to be his girlfriend, at Jamaica Pond, before they went out to their first restaurant dinner in many months (#pandemiclife). Emma is a type-A control freak so she went ahead and made a dinner reservation on the other side of town. Woops. Dan then decided to propose at a park right near their house - there is a pretty little pond there with turtles and birds that would be a perfect spot! Turned out the pond was under construction and there was plastic sheeting and port-o-potties all around it. Romantic. So Dan pivoted. They took a nice stroll throughout the arboretum, as it was a beautiful Spring day. Emma thought Dan was being weird as he kept saying things like "Hey, look at that nice tree over there. Let's go sit by that tree!" (Dan is not usually an arbor enthusiast). Finally he got down on one knee and asked the question. There was much crying and hugging, even while pushy joggers tried to brush past us. In the end, he asked and she said yes - so it was the perfect proposal!
