This past April, The Mbekeani and Mkandawire Families in Malawi (oh so generously) hosted a traditional engagement ceremony known in their culture as a Chinkhoswe. 

The Malawian Chinkhoswe is a ceremony where close relatives of the bride and groom are introduced to each other. A rooster, which symbolizes the groom, is presented by the groom's family to the bride's family, and a hen, symbolizing the bride, is presented by the bride's family to the groom's family. This very colorful ceremony takes place before the actual wedding and consists of traditional dancing, singing and food.
