Sara and Andy met in May of 2015 when Sara was working in transportation and needed to bring a vehicle to the local repair shop, where Andy was the mechanic, for an oil change. After a few months of visiting the shop to service fleet vehicles and getting better acquainted with each other, it was the dead of summer and Sara needed her air conditioner repaired, so she took it to the same shop. They got to talking and spent some time together after the work day was over, exchanged numbers, had their first date a couple of days later, and have been inseparable ever since. They moved in together in 2016 after dating for about a year and a half, and got engaged just before celebrating their 5th anniversary.
To celebrate Sara’s birthday, which fell during the work week that year, Sara and Andy decided to take their canoe out on the following Saturday, July 25th 2020. After a morning of cruising around the beautiful Blue Lake in Sterling Forest, NY, they took a picnic lunch to Ringwood Manor in NJ and found a cozy, secluded spot under a black walnut tree to eat. As the meal ended and dragonflies were flitting about and landing on us, he came closer, saying “There’s only one thing that could make this day more perfect” and he reached into his backpack and pulled out a beautiful wooden jewelry box, opening it to reveal the ring. “Sara,” he said, as he knelt before her sitting on the grass, “would you make me the luckiest guy on earth by becoming my wife?” She said “Yes! Of course!” They sealed it with a kiss. And the rest is American History.
