Chelsea immigrated to the U.S. with her family in December 2015, moving to San Antonio with no friends or background in the city. The transition could have been tough, but thanks to Chelsea’s best friend and Walden’s cousin, Jewel Siglos, she was introduced to Walden. At the time, Walden was in the Philippines, but after being introduced online, Chelsea and Walden began chatting on Facebook, never expecting anything more than a friendship. In January 2016, when Walden returned to San Antonio, they met in person for the first time. Walden showed Chelsea around, took her to see Dirty Grandpa at the movies, and then to Texas Roadhouse for a meal. Walden assumed it would be a one-time meeting, but fate had other plans. After dropping her wallet in Walden’s car, Chelsea had to meet up again to retrieve it—and the rest, as they say, is history. Fast forward to today: they’ve grown together, laughed together, and even gained a few extra pounds together! From being “broke Asians” to still navigating life’s challenges with humor and love, they’ve embraced every moment. Chelsea is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs at the LBJ School at UT Austin, while Walden is working toward his Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at UT Arlington. By God’s grace, they’ve been blessed with good jobs and a bright future ahead. Through it all, they’ve remained each other’s biggest supporters, and they’re excited to take the next step in their journey together.
