It was a nice day mid March 2019, I was at the gym getting my workout on. There was this guy (Jay) that kept staring at me rather than focusing on his workout. You know that feeling when you can literally feel someone staring at you? I quickly decided that it was time to leave. I got in my car and guess who was parked next to me? You guessed it! He put his windows down and started to talk to me. He finally asked to be friends and we exchanged numbers and went our separate ways. We texted back and forth and met up for dinner at Olive garden one day. We started to hang out after that but that was short lived. I was going through a death in the family and although he was supportive I felt he wasn’t ready. Well we both weren’t ready for each other. We lost contact for about 2 years and dated other people but that was short lived. One random day I got a call from Jay and rather than ignoring it like I had done in the past I picked up. We spoke for a bit and Jay mentioned that he had moved to Maryland. Funny thing I was planning on driving down to DC to visit a friend (shout out Nara). So I told Jay that I was actually heading to DC that weekend and from then our conversation just flowed and it felt like I was catching up with a best friend. Fastforward to my DC trip I got to see Jay and from then we rekindled our friendship. We went on our first date in NY and had an intense conversation about our goals, relationship with God, and what we were looking for. After this date I became super intentional and talked to God daily about what I wanted in a man. I remember telling God to give me a sign because my next relationship would be my last. 2 weeks after that my dad passed away and Jay showed up not only for me but for my family. Jay motivated me to continue school when I didn’t know that I could, prayed with me and for me when I didn’t have the words, and LISTENED. Fast forward 7 months after our first date Jay proposed and here we are.
I support my wife to be in everything. Therefore I am sticking with her story.
