In Mexico there is a neat tradition on New Year's Eve to grab some grapes and make wishes for the new year at the stroke of midnight, then eat them. This love story, down to the purest definition, is destiny. Some mutual friends had invited them to a dinner. Kate ended up sitting across the table from Nick. Nick doesn't like pizza crust and had made a pile of uneaten crust, which Kate decided to start eating without asking. That night, Nick went home and proceeded to tell his parents that he had found the girl he was going to marry, yet he didn't even know her name. After that, they ended up meeting at a Texas Tech football game and spent some time together. After about 6 months of talking on and off, Nick wished on some Mexican grapes. The next spring Kate reached out to Nick, and honestly, they've been inseparable since.
Nick was a Cell and Molecular Biology major at Texas Tech University. Nick was known by many and even a self proclaimed Chemistry nerd. The first time Kate met Nick's friends, they knew they were meant to be because Kate has the chemical molecular structure of Serotonin tattooed on her ankle.
When Kate was in her senior year of high school, she decided to go to Lubbock for a weekend and stay in the dorms with some of her friends for an "unofficial" college visit. During her visit, Kate went with her friends to a house party they were invited to. Unbeknownst to the couple, this house party was at Nick's apartment he lived at his freshman year of college. Kate ended up meeting Nick's twin brother, Dylan, 2 years before she first laid eyes on Nick. Had Nick not been scheduled to work that night, Kate may have met Nick much earlier.
