Wade and I met at Sequoia High School. We had a thing for one another but never dated. My sister (Cindy Rios) persistently played match maker, and set us up on a few dates after high school, but the timing was never quite right. We lost touch for a few years and reconnected through facebook a few years later. At the time Wade was attending New Mexico State University and I was living in the Bay Area. We had a few (quite a few) late night drunk dials and long phone conversations throughout the year. In the summer of 2010 Wade came home from college. We spent the ENTIRE time together. That summer sealed the deal, we became best-friends and fell in love. On August 15, 2010 Wade asked me to be his girlfriend right before getting in the car to drive back to New Mexico. Of course I said YES! it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
August of last year we took a trip to New Orleans and unbeknownst to me, Wade was planning to propose. On August 15, (our 7 year anniversary) it was pouring rain so Wade had to improvise and come up with a back up plan for his proposal. Two days later, he planned a beautiful bike ride through Central Park in New Orleans where we rode around in circles searching for the Angele Langles Memorial Bridge. My sister and brother-in-law (The Rios Family) were taking our picture on the bridge. I placed my hand on his chest and felt his heart beating rapidly, I didn't know why he was like that. I turned to talk to my sister and as I turned back around he was down on his knee with the ring. So many emotions went through through my head I was shocked and thrilled! Of course I said Yes! Wade and I will cherish our trip to New Orleans forever.
