We met up at Hodges Bend in Downtown Tulsa and had the easiest conversation over cocktails and fries. Thomas showed up with a potted plant as a gift, knowing that I was trying to get more into plants. We were relieved that our virtual chemistry translated into the most natural first date we could’ve imagined. One of us (Thomas) was more nervous than the other realized. We were quickly smitten.

Ever the romantic, Thomas insisted on making the proposal a surprise. He decided to recreate our first date at Hodges Bend, including a new potted plant (a seasonal cactus that will bloom the same time every year) and a lovely dinner. As we reached the car after dinner, Thomas got down on one knee outside and proposed. It was the easiest “yes” I’ve ever said!
