It all began in the fall of 2017, Afrika’s favorite season. Somewhere between the changing leaves, our paths crossed and we just clicked. Our first date was at West Egg in February 2018, a spot that sadly isn’t around anymore but every time we pass by, we can’t help but smile and reminisce about that day. From the very beginning, we discovered our shared love for travel and adventure, and soon after, we began exploring the world together. Our first trip took us to Turks & Caicos and the Dominican Republic, and that was just the start. Since then, we’ve wandered through the blue domes of Greece, soaked up the beauty of Thailand and Bali, danced in Jamaica, explored the sands of Qatar, the streets of South Korea, and so many places in between including plenty of adventures here in the U.S. While in Santorini, we stumbled upon another shared passion: wine. From that moment, we made it our mission to visit wineries wherever we go, collecting not just corks, but memories. In 2024, we bought our first home together, the place where we now raise our two beautiful (and very furry) daughters. Over the past eight years, we’ve cheered each other on through promotions, new opportunities, and even one of us earning a pilot’s license! Then came February 2025. After months of secret planning (and a few near slip-ups), Von surprised Afrika with a trip to Bali, Indonesia. The surprise didn’t last all the way Afrika figured out our destination during the layover, but the magic of the trip was still unforgettable. One evening, with a fire show illuminating the beach; Von asked Afrika to marry her. Of course, she said yes. In August 2025, we said “I do” in a small, intimate ceremony. Now, we can’t wait to say it again, this time in front of all of you.
