Our story began on a blind group date with mutual friends and some whiskey tasting. We quickly realized we had actually known OF each other for years: same high school, same church, and Collin even played tennis with Abbie’s brother. After the tasting, Abbie passed her number along through a mutual friend, giving Collin exactly three days to make a move… or be forgotten forever. On day three (close to midnight), Abbie got the text that was the beginning of many late night/early morning conversations. What followed were some hilariously awkward dates — a round of tense minigolf and Mexican dinner night (complete with finger guns), diabolical fireworks at a Rattlers game, and sipping black cows at Charlie’s Drive-In while battling it out in chess until the lights were turned off. In true Collin fashion, no mercy was given as he dominated the chess game. Despite the brutal loss, Abbie smiled the whole drive home. It wasn't easy living an hour apart for the first year of our relationship, but we made every effort to see each other — from weekly bowling league nights that ended with dancing in the parking lot to Saturdays spent on the golf course. The past two years have thrown more than a few curveballs our way: cancer diagnoses, surgeries, loss of loved ones, job changes, and far too many Packer losses. But through it all, we've found so much joy, laughter, and love. We’ve learned to hold tight to God's promises and to each other. Now, we can’t wait to do life together — and to celebrate with all the people we love most.
