What dress code is expected at a black tie optional wedding?

Answer

A black-tie optional dress code gives guests a couple of formal options to choose from. Men are requested to wear a tuxedo, but can opt for a dark suit. Women can choose either a formal evening gown, a shorter cocktail dress, or dressy separates. Black-tie attire is not required. If you do not plan to wear an evening gown or tux, err on the side of overdressing in a dark suit or longer-length cocktail dress.

We are having an unplugged wedding ceremony as a courtesy to the photographer. However, we would love a variety of photos from the reception. Please forward copies to the bride and groom.
