Flight
We highly recommend flying in and out of Edinburgh Airport (EDI) for the wedding. The airport is about a 2 hour drive from to the venue, has lots of rental car options, and is easy to get to from the city of Edinburgh thanks to an amazing public transportation system (we recommend taking the Tram to and from the airport, but busses also do the trick). More importantly, the city of Edinburgh is an absolute must see! Julia has endless recommendations for those of you spending some time there.
Rental Car
So you've made it to Scotland...now how do you get all the way to the castle for the wedding? We recommend getting a rental car from the Edinburgh airport. Coordinate with family and friends to carpool. Don't forget to reserve a car with an automatic transmission if you don't drive stick shift very regularly!!! They drive on the left side of the road in the UK, so if you get a manual car, you'll have to change gears with your left hand. For safety and peace of mind, we ask that you don't rent a manual unless you and at least one other passenger is comfortable driving stick shift.
