We met our sophomore year at Davidson College. Though we had taken two organic chemistry classes together, we officially met in a van ride to a pre-med conference when we happened to sit together.

Shortly after the conference, my eating house hosted a semi-formal dance. The theme was "My Tie": the idea was to have your friends find a date for you and ask them for their tie. You're supposed to wear the tie to the dance (while having no idea who the tie belongs to). Your date then arrives at the dance and looks for the girl wearing his tie and says, "Hey, that's my tie!" 

I remember telling my roommate at the time (shoutout Lee) that I didn't want to go to the dance unless it was with Zach. Little did I know, Lee sent him an email then and there asking him to be my date. A few days later, I was shocked to find a red tie on my desk. Despite my constant nagging, Lee wouldn't tell me who it belonged to. I didn't find out until Zach walked up to me at the dance. And, the rest is history!
