It was the Fall of 2013 when Vivien and Marcus' paths crossed. Marcus was living in San Jose and had just started a new job at Salesforce in San Francisco. In his search of a residence to be closer to his office he fortunately came across a room for rent with Tien and Grace; while Vivien also began to build a closer friendship with the same girls. Vivien then spontaneously went over to their apartment one night to meet up with Tien for a concert dressed up as Winnie The Pooh. It was this moment when they met, where Marcus was smitten by just how cute she looked and immediately set his sights on capturing her attention. As some of you may know, Marcus is a DJ - one night he was opening for a renowned DJ in San Jose with his former events company. So as an effort (emphasis on effort) to court Vivien, he invited Vivien to this event as his personal VIP - she played hard to get and politely declined because it was simply "too far." Regardless, Marcus was determined to press on and find other ways to connect. They then began secretly texting and going on dates, the first one being a night out at Mezzanine SF to see a DJ named Mark Kinchen (MK). However, shortly after one of their first music festivals together (Coachella) Viv was required to return to Toronto. Marcus knew this girl was too special to let go of so he insisted that they keep in touch regularly. After some time apart, Marcus realized he just couldn't get her off his mind! Having established that they shared the same music tastes and interests, they were relegated to digital forms of communication and created a friendship through text and FaceTime. Through late night calls and texts, they exchanged their excited discoveries of new music and artists - eventually attending countless events, concerts, and music festivals together amongst mutual friends. It was through their love of music that brought them together and the language they built their relationship upon. Through these experiences and the support of their friends they both recognized the spark they had when in each other's presence and their friendship organically evolved into romance. The two then decided to take one of their first trips together to Thailand visiting the beautiful island of Koh Samui. It was here on the warm island sand and underneath the moonlit sky that Marcus decided to make it official and asked Vivien to be his exclusive girlfriend.. and the rest? Well, that's history. Fast forward to 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic when they realized just how much they loved each other and were ready to take the next step - fully committing themselves to one another. Not wanting to wait a moment more, Marcus proposed at Marshall Beach in San Francisco - the city where their love and so many fond memories were contrived. Shortly after, they gathered their family members and got 'married' in the living room of their newly purchased home and then eloped in one of their favorite places, Yosemite National Park, for the the intimate moments and breathtaking views they so admired. It was here where it felt like it was them against the world and were ready to take it on as one. Since then they've adopted their fur baby Nori and have been continuing to live a life full of adventure and excitement. Nearly 2 years later they now have the opportunity to celebrate with all of their loved ones and friends to commemorate this momentous occasion!
