Vivian had just gotten hired as a hostess around late August 2018 at The Coffee Cup Cafe in Downtown Monument. She was working weekends there during her senior year when Huey was returning from summer break and began working there again (he had before) as a waiter. Unfortunately, both being shy they did not really speak much and were certain they were also far too different to even be friends. Less than a month later, they became friends and Huey began to help Vivian with side work reaching up to grab toilet paper, paper towels, showing her where everything was, kept things casual. Well they exchanged social medias, but still not did not speak outside of work. Huey goes out of town for a week to Washington DC and here Viv believes he got confidence due to distance to start talking to her and started smooth talking.. Day after he gets back in town he takes Viv out. That night was an adventure for sure but since then they have been inseperable. Ask us on the day of our wedding for the better story ;)
We were working at "The Cup" that day. Nothing special had occurred during work, Huey is a manger at The Coffee Cup Cafe so he opened the restaurant that day, meaning he was first to go home. I on the other hand was the last one in which meant I closed. My dad Dutch (I am blessed with two dads), sends me a text and calls my work to say we have reservations for The Mona Lisa, A fondue place in Manitou Springs. Not even phased, my dad loves to eat out I said okay and got dressed, sending Huey a quick text to let him know the plans for that evening. Huey and I agree we will meet them at the restaurant. As we arrive they take us upstairs to a twinkling terrace full of candles and little lights overlooking Manitou Springs, and then to a small table for two. Serving sparkling cider, I am in shock by how pretty this entire balcony is. Picture an evening in Italy, The good scenes out of Romeo and Juliet, fondue, and nerves.. Huey was shaking like a chihuahua. I am texting my parents that they gave us the wrong table and asking them where they are. When I hear commotion coming from the staircase we had just walked up.. I hear my dads voice faintly say " Woman this staircase is too small for my belly" followed by a " Dutch move your ass". Confused.. I look behind me and see them smiling towards me with cameras and I look back to see what Huey is doing only to find him on one knee beside our table. And well, you can guess what I said.
