Y’all know we love coffee, and at the heart of our story is coffee. It started when we met a million years...scratch that... 16 years ago, in a digital realm, far far away, called Maplestory. One fateful day, in the desert town of Perion, Vivian, guised in her digital character, named “IcedCoffee” walked past Hong. And you guys know him, no way she wouldn’t catch his attention. He said “Hi, I like your name.” What he really meant was “You had me at ‘IcedCoffee’.” We’ll spare you the details of the 50,000 snail mail letters we sent back and forth from LA to Chicago throughout high school. We’ll even skip the countless nights staying up past 9PM to take advantage of T-Mobile’s unlimited minutes to talk about nothing and everything. All those amazing years of building this everlasting friendship eventually led up to 2016, when Vivian sent Hong a simple text: “I need a friend.” The only natural response from Hong was “pick me pick me pick me!” This was the moment Hong had been waiting almost a decade for. He bought a plane ticket to middle-of-nowhere Illinois and swooped in like a predator. Just like that, our seven-year journey to our wedding date began on April 21st, 2016. Vivian returned the favor by moving her entire life to Southern California, where we started building our home together. And now, we hope to celebrate our seventh-year anniversary with our closest friends and family on April 21st, 2023 in beautiful, sunny SoCal.
