I don't know what happened, but I neglected to respond to him after exchanging brief banter. Some call this the act of “ghosting,” but I was merely taking a sabbatical from dating. During this hiatus, I visited my good friend in Florida. I remember telling her that I wasn’t sure whether I would ever find my forever person and I was sad. She took me to her bible study and the pastor said, “God has plans for all of you. You may not see it right now, but there is a path for you. Trust him.” Her inspiring sermon continued and a glimmer of hope was restored. When I got back to NY, I matched with Jon for a second time. We chatted the night away on the phone. We fit in a cute first date before I flew to Nashville for a work trip. Knowing my strong aversion to lonely hotel stays, Jonathan sweetly stayed on the phone with me every single night for the entire trip. Whether it was a coincidence or divine intervention that played a role in our paths crossing again, I am grateful. The rest is history. We have spent a lot of precious time together because of quarantine. We have watched our fair share of reality television. We have driven through some gorgeous national parks. We trekked to an active volcano. We continue to laugh and love whether we are on the couch or getting engaged on a crater! We got married on March 31, 2021 virtually and cannot wait to celebrate in 2022. We are so thankful for the love and support we have received as we navigate through this next adventure.
