Flight
The Leon airport (BJX) is about an hour and thirty minutes from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. It is by far the most used for people traveling to San Miguel because of the flight options but the road to San Miguel is windy/curvy so if you get car sick, go with QRO (both are nice and safe).
Flight
The trip from QRO to San Miguel de Allende is approximately 1 hour and the road has slightly less curves than the road from BJX.
Flight
The trip from MEX to San Miguel de Allende is about 3.5 hours by road depending on the traffic in Mexico City. You may not see substantial enough savings from flying into here to make the longer commute to San Miguel worth it, but always worth checking!

Travel Note
The city is very walkable. It won't be hard to flag down one of San Miguel's green-and-white taxis in most parts of town. If you're staying downtown, cabs are plentiful. On the outskirts of the city, you may need to head to a main road to hail a cab. Ride services like Uber are also an option, but not as utilized. We strongly recommend not renting a car. The streets are small and steep with very limited parking.
House Or Rental
There are tons of amazing rental options on AirBnB and VRBO. This tends to be one of the most cost effective options for small and large groups and a great way to see local architecture. If you're curious about the area, feel free to send us the address and we can confirm it's in a good spot. A few notes - most locations don't have AC as San Miguel never gets too warm and cools down at night, so if this is something you must have, be sure to add that to your criteria when searching. If the house you're looking at has an overlook view, it is most likely up the hill on the east side of the city. Lots of these are a short walk into the city center, but just be aware of the steep walk back up (or you can always grab a cab). Also - always read the reviews!
