Hartwood's is widely considered the best restaurant in Tulum. The menu changes daily based on what is harvested from the sea and land. They travel hours into the Yucatan interior to markets and farms, where they collect ingredients that allow you to experience new and exciting tastes. Arca's food is micro-seasonal and is a current representation of flora and fauna around Tulum. They have created the dishes in tune with their roots and traditions, with bold and explosive flavors. Open-fire cooking is integral to the menu, composed of small plates intended to be shared, a way of eating that is inherent in Mexican culture. Arca offers reservations between 6-7; after that i's first come, first serve.

Wild

Wild

Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila, Tulum Beach, Q.R., Mexico

Wild's menu is farm to table fusion of traditional Mayan craftsmanship with rustic elements alongside modern elegant and abstract influences. The cocktails and cuisine were a favorite of Eileen's during our first visit to Tulum.

Gitano

Gitano

Tulum Beach, Q.R. 77710, Mexico

Gitano is a modern Mexican kitchen, where seasonal local ingredients are cooked in a wood-burning oven & open fire grill. The menu has been designed for an interactive, sharing dining experience. Make sure to take part in the mezcal tasting, with over 50+ Mexcals from Oaxaca and juices hand made daily with local seasonal fruits & herbs; we know you won't be disappointed. Gitano is also a fantastic spot for a nightcap or some late-night partying.

Chichen Itza

Chichen Itza

Chichén Itzá is a complex of Mayan ruins on Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. A massive step pyramid, known as El Castillo or Temple of Kukulcan, dominates the ancient city, which thrived from around 600 A.D. to the 1200s. Our travel concierge would be happy to book a full-day historical guided tour of the ruins, the cenote, and Valladolid city. Alternatively, you can book tickets to check out one of the new seven wonders of the world on their website. Chichen Itza opens every day from Monday to Sunday from 8 am to 5 pm, the last entrance is at 4 pm.

Coba Ruins & Cenote's

Coba Ruins & Cenote's

Coba is a Mayan site approximately one hour from Tulum, where you can visit the highest Mayan Palace Temple in the South of Mexico. Coba’s claim to fame is the largest network of stone causeways in the ancient Mayan world. Over 50 of these roads have been discovered at the site, with 16 of them open to the public. There are three underground cenotes located within a few minutes of Coba, Cenotes Tamcach-Ha, Choo-Ha, and Multum-Ha. Swimming in these gorgeous natural freshwater sinkholes makes for a perfect side trip after working up a sweat exploring the nearby Mayan Ruins of Coba. To coordinate a full-day tour of Coba, contact Lizzie at reservations@angelinacardenas.com.

Cenote Dos Ojos

Cenote Dos Ojos

One of the best cenotes in Tulum is Dos Ojos. Dos Ojos translates to ‘Two Eyes'. It is named this way because there are two 70-meter (230 ft) sinkholes that are connected through a passageway. This cenote is a great place to swim and hang around for a few hours. Dos Ojos is located 30 minutes northeast from Tulum. The cost to visit is 200 pesos or about $14 USD, and you can rent snorkeling equipment for an additional 100 pesos.

It’s easy to reach by car. You can also catch the collectivo from Tulum and walk the last bit from the highway to the cenote.
