How We Met

Sparks Fly on Rainbow Road

A few years ago, Mandy's friend Alex invited her to a social gathering at a friend's house. Nick, also a friend of the host, ended up in attendance at this get-together as well. As what usually happens at any good party, both Mandy & Nick found themselves in a very intense and drawn out battle of Mario Kart on the Nintendo 64. They were relentless, and played for several hours. Sources claim that Mandy was victorious in this battle.* Captivated by her impressive and well-honed Mario Kart racing skills, Nick knew he had to keep in contact with Mandy. Not having her phone number, he relied on Facebook to send her a message and ask her to go on a date with him. Initially, Mandy dismissed his requests, the first, and then the rest that followed. It wasn’t until a chance encounter at the Tavern in Old Town Littleton, one year later, that Mandy and Nick would yet again come face to face. Still reeling from love's keen sting, Nick was very dismissive towards Mandy. Luckily, his strategy worked well in his favor, and only then did Mandy decide that she really would have liked to have that first date. Nick may have lost a few races at Mario Kart**, but he won Mandy's heart. For their first date, Nick and Mandy went to Fermaentra Brewery & Taproom and then Snarfs in Denver. They shared a few flights of beer and argued about who actually won the Mario Kart, back in the day. They have been inseparable ever since! *Source: Mandy Milbrandt **Disputed to this day

Our Engagement

¡Viva DeVito!

During the holiday season in 2017, Nick and Mandy decided to fly out to New Jersey to meet Nick's side of the family for Christmas. Mandy was excited to see the area and it's close proximity to New York City – she had never been, but always wanted to go. Nick's cousins happily offered to take them into the city and show them around. Little did Mandy know, that was Nick's intention all along. Nick had the whole day planned... down to the hour. The group started the day early by taking a train ride into the city from New Jersey and found themselves on the Upper East Side, exiting at the station near the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Knowing she was with a group full of guys, Mandy figured her chances of going inside the Met were slim to none. Therefore, Mandy at least wanted a picture on the infamous steps à la Blair Waldorf, a true queen. Much to her surprise, Nick's cousins ended up buying tickets to go inside. Mandy was overcome with emotion, and speculated that this could have quite possibly been the best day of her life. How could it get any better? Well, she was about to find out. After the perusing the Met, the group spent a classic day in the city; taking a stroll through Central Park, Times Square, and finally, Rockefeller Center. As the sun was starting to set, they found themselves near Mandy's number one New York City bucket list item: the giant Rockefeller Christmas tree. Obviously needing a picture in front of it, Nick and Mandy struck a pose and Nick's cousins counted to three. Rather than simply smile for the picture, Nick dropped to one knee and asked Mandy to marry him! Mandy describes it as, "a scene out of a movie." Crowds of people nearby witnessed the proposal and were cheering and congratulating Nick and Mandy. The enthusiasm from the crowd was so loud, in fact, that Nick didn't initially hear Mandy when she said "yes"!
