What should I wear to the Wedding Ceremony?
Answer
Our ceremony is a traditional Hindu wedding and we highly encourage all guests to wear Indian attire as it truly adds to the magic of the day! If Indian attire isn't possible, modest smart casual is also welcome, provided shoulders and knees are covered. Never worn Indian clothing before? Don't worry, we've got you covered! For women, great options include: Saree: the most traditional option Salwar kameez: a comfortable and elegant tunic and trouser set Lehenga: a skirt and blouse set, perfect for a wedding Anarkali suit: a flowing, dress-like kurta, very popular for weddings For men, great options include: Kurta pajama: a long tunic with matching trousers, simple and classic Casual Sherwani: a more formal, embroidered jacket style for weddings Nehru jacket over a kurta: a great smart option Colours to avoid: White: traditionally associated with mourning in Hindu culture Black: best avoided at Hindu weddings Think rich, vibrant colours, jewel tones, pinks, greens, oranges, reds and golds are all perfect and celebratory! What should I wear to the Reception?
Answer
The reception is at a pub so keep it nice and relaxed. Smart casual Western attire is perfect - sundresses, blouses, khakis, dress pants, or a casual blazer.

Will there be food at all events?
Answer
Yes! Food will be served at all three events. If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies please make sure to note them when you RSVP and we will do our best to accommodate everyone. All food provided will be vegetarian with vegan options.

Do I need to remove my shoes at the Mandir?
Answer
Yes, as is customary at all Hindu temples, we ask that all guests remove their shoes before entering BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir. There will be a designated area to leave your shoes safely. We recommend wearing easy slip-on footwear or bringing a pair of socks if you prefer not to be barefoot inside.

Is there alcohol at the Ceremony?
Answer
As BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir is a sacred place of worship, alcohol and tobacco is not permitted on the premises. There will be plenty of food and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy during the ceremony. We will save the celebratory cheers for the reception on Sunday!

What about gifts?
Answer
Your presence at our celebrations is the greatest gift of all! If you would like to honour us with a gift, we kindly ask for a cash contribution rather than physical gifts. A card with your gift on the day would be warmly appreciated. Thank you so much for your generosity and love!
