How We Met

"We make a Great Team!"

Brendan's POV: As the night wrapped up at my sister Christine's wedding, My little brother, Vincent, and I were being bossed around by some random girl, I.E. Virginia the wedding coordinator, to help clean up. Virginia's first interaction with me was her seeing me being unable to carry a bucket full of ice because "I had a few drinks" that night. I quickly cleaned up my act and proceeded to dry a coffee pot after she washed it. I then said, "We make a great team!" She agreed. As she was walking out to her car to leave, a friend stole flowers from a centerpiece for me to give to her. I got her number and asked her to go to Top Golf the very next day and the rest is history! Virginia's POV: So Brendan and I met at his sister’s Christine’s wedding. I was the event coordinator. The wedding ends and we’re all cleaning up. There was this large ice table that had to be taken outside and dumped. So looking around for someone to help, I see Brendan’s friend who is about 6'5 and I’m like “Perfect, that guy will do!” So I told him to grab someone else and come over and help me. So he grabbed Brendan. So they pick up the table and then Brendan proceeded to drop the table, spilling ice water everywhere. I grab his side of the table and may have whispered under my breath “ Well, you’re useless.” At this point, my existence became known, and Brendan’s friend started badgering me with questions. “ Who are you? Where are you from? Have you met my friend Brendan? Are you a good Catholic girl?” that one I answered with, “ Well is he a good Catholic guy?” After these exchanges, I did my best to give them all tasks to help clean up, but I found that Brendan just kept not leaving my side, and conning off all of his tasks and his little brother, Vincent. It started to become comical and his mom, Mama T, his sister Kat, and her husband Austin were all so apologetic. But I found it to be some comical relief to clean up. Plus I didn't mind the attention. Finally the space was almost clean except for this coffee pot thing. I’m in the kitchen cleaning it and Brendan walks in and says "Oh! Let me help you!" to which I immediately brush off, but he is persistent and picks up the towel and starts to dry parts of the coffee pot. After a minute of this, he turns to mean and says “You know, we make a good team!” At this, his mother and I burst out laughing and in response, I agreed. A little later, he proceeded to walk me out to my car. I did not want him coming to my car. I had been living out of it for the last two days and it was an absolute mess. But like a gentleman, he carried my bags out, put them in my car, and then proceeded to ask for my number, which I gave to him. I then forgot something and had to run back inside. while inside I heard conversations about us already taking place! One person said, "Who knows, we might have another wedding here soon!" Brendan‘s friend then caught me before I went out the door and said “You’ve gotta give the guy a chance!” I made my way back to the car and thought Brendan was gone, but then out of nowhere, he appeared with a bouquet that he had stolen from one of the table centerpieces. He opened my car door again, placed a flower in my ear, and then sent me on my way home. He texted me that night. Took me out on a date the next day to Topgolf, and the rest is history! Now, remembering this story I've come to realize that we still live in the first meeting almost every day. - He always does the dishes. ( Like I never even have to ask!) -My doors are always open. (and yes my car is still a mess!) - He's a romantic though and though. (There have been many more flowers since.) - He has made every challenge for me so much easier by coming up next to me and reminding me that we make a great team.
