Haldi is a pre-wedding ceremony where a paste made of turmeric, sandalwood, and sometimes rosewater is applied to the bride and groom’s face and body by family and friend's. It is meant to bless the couple, bring good luck, and give their skin a natural glow before the wedding ceremony. During the Mehndi celebration, the bride has intricate henna designs applied to her hands and feet, guests may also receive small henna designs, and family and friends gather for an evening filled with music, dancing, blessings, and vibrant festivities—making it one of the most colorful, lively, and high-energy events of the wedding celebrations.
A baraat is the celebratory arrival of the groom at a wedding venue, accompanied by family and friends who dance and travel with him to mark the start of the marriage ceremony. Viren's family and friend's will be part of the baraat while Andreas Family and friend's wait at the venue for the groom and his family to show up to welcome them.
