The unlikely pair met when passing by mutual friends on campus. Mike was a Business major and Violet was an Art major, but somehow still managed to find endless things in common. One coffee date turned into almost 8 years of hiking, fishing, foraging and floating along the rivers and forests of Northern California.

The couple took a free-diving trip off the shore of Mendocino, looking for sea souvenirs for their 6th anniversary. Alone by the campfire, following the fish tacos, Violet asked Mike to take the plunge. Abalone season disappointed, but the fishing trip did not— They both left with a catch!
