The Magical Mehendi Ceremony Explainer - What's Done, How And Why! Love the henna but confused about the ritual behind it all? The Mehendi ceremony is a fun-filled, nostalgic sit-down for the bride, her cousins, siblings, friends, aunts and others. This is their day, filled with fun, laughter, songs, dances and games as each sits down for a dollop of Mehndi over their hands and feet. Often held on a sunny day outdoors, the Mehndi ceremony actually occurs for both the bride and the groom on the same day. Nowadays, many brides-to-be choose to do one combined mehndi function, for double the madness and fun!

Traditionally, Holi, the festival of colors, is a celebration of the end of winter and the beginning of spring. It's a celebration of rebirth and new beginnings, and a time to let the bad and the negative melt away. We wanted to kick-start the wedding week with Holi for an evening of music, dance, and playing with colored powder with friends and family. The powder we are using is sourced from Spanish Fork, UT, (where the largest Holi celebration in the country is held each year!) is corn starch based and is biodegradable. It will wash off skin easily, but be sure to wear something you don't mind getting stained! As an additional precaution, prepping your face and hair with oil/ leave in conditioner is recommended. *Aftercare Tip: To avoid and/or minimize stain, vigorously shake out all dry excess powder before stepping into a shower, or throwing your clothes in the wash.
