1) In the Milazzo area: - Eolic Islands. If you have time: we love Panarea (you can also see the erupting Stromboli volcano on the way back), for a quicker tour, the closest ones are Lipari, Vulcano and Salina - Tindari: beautiful sanctuary on top of the mountain by the sea - Milazzo: Capo Milazzo and Piscina di Venere; for breakfast, go eat a granita at Tenuta Anasita - Rometta (Superiore): Giordano's homeland - Messina: visit Duomo and its mechanical bell tower (it plays everyday at 12:00pm); enjoy the view from Cristo Re (panoramic point); get a granita at caffe' Miscela d'Oro in Piazza Cairoli - Savoca: the Godfather was filmed here 2) East Side road trip: - Taormina: White Lotus season 2. Go to BamBar for granita and I Giardini di Babilonia for a nice dinner - Mount Etna: tallest volcano in Europe (and always active), go up to the craters by Rifugio Sapienza - Siracusa (Ortigia): the city of Archimedes - Noto: the capital of Sicilian Baroque architecture and home of the amazing Caffe' Sicilia - Marzamemi: cute fisherman town - Caltagirone: the capital of Sicilian ceramics 3) Going West: - Cefalu': The White Lotus (beach) - Palermo: our mighty capital - San Vito Lo Capo (nice beaches) - Erice (the Taormina of the West) 4) Archeolgical tour: - Taormina: Greek Theatre - Piazza Armerina: Roman Villa - Agrigento: Valle dei Templi (UNESCO site), if you go all the way there, be sure to stop by Scala dei Turchi - Segesta (closer to Palermo) 5) Food/Wine tour: - Rometta Superiore has a food festival every Sunday in October - Bronte pistacchio festival (it's happening the weekend of the wedding) - Marsala and Avola: famous for their wines
