Finger Lakes Wine Country has more than 100 wineries to explore, and it’s especially beautiful in the fall. Most wineries are located close to one another, making it a perfect stop on your way to or from Rochester, or even on the day of the wedding, since it’s only 30–55 minutes away depending on where you go. Each winery sets its own tasting fee, and larger groups may need a reservation.
The home of the Original Garbage Plate! Legend has it that the name the “Garbage Plate” was created by Nick Tahou Hots late one night when some college students came into the restaurant and requested a plate with “all the garbage on it”. The owner then made his new variation of the combination plate. Over time it grew into a local favorite and he had the name Garbage Plate trademarked so you'll find names such as Trash Plate at other places.
Definitely something to do on a Saturday morning. It's unlike any other farmers market you've ever been to. It runs every Saturday all year long. Plan to go early, especially if it's a nice day to avoid super large crowds. In addition, an array of independent local businesses, cafés, food stands, coffee shops, specialty food purveyors, breweries, retail shops, and more, can be found surrounding the market. Market vendors offer local produce, produce from around the country and world, meats and seafood; eggs and dairy products, baked goods, ethnic delicacies, prepared and packaged foods, specialty items, general merchandise, and more in three covered outdoor vendor sheds and also a fully indoor shed.
