Down in the basement of MassArt we met in welding class. I thought she was cool and bold with her head to toe white outfit in the grimy shop. She would ask me to setup her welder, even though she knew how. We bonded over late nights, Chinese food, and the struggles of creative process. Our friendship grew close as we traveled for art - Josey being a great navigator and snack supplier. During lockdown, we supported each other with weekly calls that lasted hours. Josey made me a playlist that kept me going through workdays. We finally got to see each other again over a year later in June of 2021. We’d go on weekly adventures, thrifting, hiking with Pip, and enjoying delicious food. Through all of this, I was trying to find a way to ask Josey out on a date but all I could say is “this really means a lot.” On July 11th, 2021 I asked her out, everyday since has been full of adventures, creativity, and collecting.
