In India, the bridegroom and his family is placed in high regard. Therefore, after they get ready for the wedding the first ceremony which locks the seal is Tilak ceremony. It is usually attended by the male members of both the families. The father of the bride along with other associates visits the house of the groom. There he applies the auspicious tilak on the forehead of the groom to ensure that the he is finally ready for marriage and also that the bride's family has accepted him as their would-be son in law.

The word “Sangeet “ means music, but when it is used as a term to describe a celebratory event during an Indian wedding it translates to Music Night or Musical party. This musical night is a celebration of the union of not only the couple but the bonding of both families. It is here that both sides bring down their barriers and mingle in a fun environment. It’s usually held a day before the wedding. It may be held in a huge hotel room to accommodate all wedding guests, or it may be a small affair at the bride’s home. In some events men and women get separated due to their interests, for example men –booze, women- henna, younsters-dance. But most of the sangeet parties are huge and loud and every bit like a reception but super fun.

Snātakaṃ means Graduation or Bath Graduate or Post graduation. It is usually performed before householder responsibilities are handed over to the Groom.[5] Snaatakam ritual takes place at the bridegroom’s residence before the muhūrtaṃ. As a part of this custom, the groom is asked to wear a silver thread on his body. The ritual is conducted a few hours prior to the wedding.

Traditionally, after Snātakaṃ, the groom will be eligible for higher studies and he will be eligible to go to Kashi and study further or become Sanyasi. However, as a pre-wedding ceremony, the groom just pretends to go to Kashi and says that he has discarded the worldly pleasures (such as marriage, relations and properties) and is no more interested in leading a family life. He will then be stopped by the brother of the bride, who persuade him to assume the responsibility of a household, and they tease each other quite a lot until the groom readily agrees for it in the end.

Baraat is a groom's wedding procession in India. In North Indian communities, it is customary for the bridegroom to travel to the wedding venue (often the bride's house) on a mare, accompanied by his family members. The baraat can become a large procession, with booking its own band. The groom and his horse are covered in finery and do not usually take part in the dancing and singing; that is left to the "baraatis" or people accompanying the procession. The term baraati is also more generically used to describe any invitee from the groom's side. Traditionally, baraatis are attended to as guests of the bride's family. The baraat, headed and accompanied by the rhythm of the dhol, reaches the meeting point, where the elders of both the families meet. In North Indian Hindu weddings, the groom is greeted with garlands and aarti. In traditional North Indian weddings, baraats are welcomed at the wedding venue with the sound of shehnais, which are considered auspicious at weddings by Hindus.
