We suggest the food, beer, and/or a brewery tour! They are one of the most sustainable breweries in the world, with some tasty beer you won't find anywhere but the tour at the end.
Honokaa
Wander through the shops of this cute town and find some unique souvenirs. Don't forget to stop by Fudge & Coffee to say hi to Neenee, have some coffee, a snack, or lunch! We also highly recommend the dumpling place.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
Wander through the national park, stop for lunch, or there is a winery outside the gates as well. Check the website before you go in case the volcanoes are erupting and visibility is limited.
Spencer Beach Park
Family friendly beach with soft sand and a short walk to the water from the parking lot. It was one of Mrs. Kelley's favorite places to go.
Akaka Falls State Park
Easy walk on a paved path with beautiful flowers and waterfalls to be seen. Good for the kiddos!
Puakō Petroglyph Park
TAKE WATER! It gets warm walking on the lava beds, but so cool to see all of the petroglyphs that are maintained here. Follow the path back...we got a little lost and took a detour on the road we drove in on. Good for the kids to do! Approx. 1.7 miles round trip

Parking can be challenging, but they have tasty food and some unique beverages we haven't seen anywhere else.
Big Island Brewhaus
We always stop in once or twice for a tasty beverage and good food.
The Fish And The Hog
THE BEST BURGER you will find almost anywhere. All of the food is good thought. They don't do reservations so go early. Try a Guava Margarita if you like them spicy!
Shaka Tacoz
Order some tacos and wander the shops while you wait. They will do 2 tacos instead of 3 if you want a little less. Can't go wrong with these.

Hear us out...the name is weird, but they are tasty!
Kohala Burger & Taco
Been at the beach and need a quick bite to satisfy the hunger? Here is a great spot. Plus the Shave Ice next door is a MUST! Shave ice is cash only and has ice cream too. Try lavender lemonade with ginger lemongrass.
