We’re getting married!

Tom and Ash met during Winter Carnival while attending Michigan Technological University. They bonded over their love for the outdoors, tasty food, and a common path toward the medical field. They danced the night away on the ice stage with snow fluttering down from the sky. (Pretty much picture the perfect night to meet someone special). A few weeks later, they hiked out to Douglas Houghton Falls, the first of many hikes together.

One fall day in October of 2019, Tom and Ash, and their dog, Pepper, left for a backpacking trip. They arrived later than anticipated....it was very dark. As the couple worked to set up camp they attached Pepper's leash to a tree. Pepper decided she would rather explore than watch her paw-rents pitch a tent and therefore gnawed through her leash. Luckily, Ash spotted the shiny reflectors on Pepper's harness as she (Pepper) happily wandered. Tom and Ash decided to zip Pepper in the tent while they finished setting up camp. Not to be left out again, Pepper took matters into her own paws and popped her snoot through the no-see-um mesh, twice. In the morning, after a restless night, the party discovered they'd pitched camp next to a beautiful lake...and a road. However, even after a night of mishaps, Tom was not discouraged. After 14 miles of hiking, Tom proposed to Ash on the Appalachian Trail with a copper diamond, to symbolize the Copper Country, where they'd met on that snowy night. (obviously, Ash said yes or we wouldn't be here),
